An electronics protective case isolates a board, module or instrument from shock, keeps dust out of connectors, and prevents accessories from abrading a finished surface. Where electrostatic discharge is a concern, the foam can be specified as conductive or anti-static rather than standard PE.

Shock and ESD are different problems
Mechanical protection is about peak acceleration and stopping distance: thicker, correctly graded foam reduces both. Electrostatic protection is about surface resistivity: the foam itself has to be the right grade, because a coating wears off after a few cycles. Buyers often ask for one and are specified the other, so we treat them as two separate line items on the quotation.
