Instrument & Equipment Cases
Protective cases for measuring, testing, laboratory, inspection and engineering instruments. Published internal dimensions and foam options from a manufacturer.
An instrument case is a protective container sized and lined for a precision device, where the requirement is not just to survive a drop but to keep the instrument within its calibration and handling limits. That means controlled support under the body, no load on knobs, lenses or connectors, and an interior that cannot shift during transit.
Key points
- One hundred and fifteen models fall in the 5 L to 45 L band that covers most handheld and benchtop instruments.
- Foam density is specified by contact pressure, not by a single grade across the case.
- A firmer carrier layer under a softer contact layer is the standard layout for heavy instruments.
- Accessories, probes and cables are cut into the same lid depth so the kit is verifiable at a glance.
Protecting accuracy, not just the housing
An instrument that arrives intact can still be out of tolerance. The damage is usually done by a point load — a probe resting on a knob, a cable pulled tight around a corner, an instrument that slides and hits the shell wall. The interior therefore has to constrain movement in all six degrees of freedom without introducing a stress point.
We ask for the instrument drawing or a physical sample, mark the centre of mass, and cut the carrier so the support is under the structure rather than under the enclosure.

In this family: 6 sub-classifications
The family is not a flat list. Buyers come to us with a sub-type in mind, so each one below is a real filter over the same product database rather than a separate marketing page.
How to specify this family
Benchtop mass
Firm base carrier, 50 mm minimum, with a soft contact layer.
Optical head
Suspend the body and clear the lenses entirely; never let foam touch a coated surface under load.
Field kit
CNC base for the instrument, pluck-foam top for probes and consumables.
Questions on Instrument & Equipment Cases
What is an instrument protective case?
A case whose interior is engineered to hold a precision instrument without point loads, prevent movement in transit, and keep accessories separated from the measuring body.
How should precision instruments be transported?
Support the mass under the structural frame, remove or protect anything that protrudes, constrain movement so the instrument cannot shift inside the foam, and keep the case closed during transport so dust does not enter the cut.
What dimensions matter most?
Internal length, width and height, plus the narrow internal width where the shell tapers, and the lid and base depth split.
Can you match an existing case?
Yes. Send the model number, a photograph of the interior, or the instrument drawing, and we will propose an equivalent shell and foam layout.
